The Golden Rule

Matthew 7:12

12Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

Jesus gave the golden rule. This law is nothing new. Jesus phrased it in a new way. Loving thy neighbor as thy self is another way Jesus said it. Essentially, many of the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20 reveal what not to do, mostly to others. If you want kindness to be shown to you, be kind. King Solomon even mentioned in the Book of Proverbs, if you want friends, you must show yourself to be friendly. And he who waters will also be watered as said in Proverbs 11. You cannot say you want someone kind to come alongside you yet you are full of meanness. People who sincerely treat others well, are considerate, friendly, etc will have it returned to them, especially when they need it most. People who can be double minded or "sometimey" in their friendliness and kindness, manipulators, etc wonder why they have no true friends. Whatever you receive will be based on whatever you put out. Whatever you say and do to others is what is in your heart. If you want to be treated better, give thought and reflection to what you do to others.
