Matthew 9:9
9As Jesus passed on from
there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said
to him, "Follow Me." So he arose and followed Him.
As
Jesus began His ministry, He called His disciples. They did not go
looking for Jesus but He came looking for them. You may think you were
looking for Jesus first but Jesus had been looking for you for a long
time. And if you are not saved and are reading this, Jesus has already
set His eyes on you. Jesus knows every strength and weakness you have.
He knows every good and bad thing you have done. Yes, including the
piece of candy you thought no one saw you take. He knows every thought
you've had. He knows if in you heart you are where you want to be. He
knows everything. What does it mean? It means that Jesus has something
specific for you to do. In Matthew 10 Jesus called the disciples to Him
and sent them out. The purpose of you coming to Jesus is for more than
sitting at His feet. You are to learn from Him. Your purpose as He said
in the Great Commission, is to help bring others to Him. It is hard to
invite someone to the table with Jesus when you yourself are not willing
to take a seat.
Will you let Him teach you? Will you let
Him prepare you for what the Father sent you here for? Will you take a
seat at the table with Jesus?
