Luke 22:8
8Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and make preparations for us to the Passover."
The
Word says Satan had already entered Judas and he had agreed to betray
Jesus. Most importantly, Jesus already knew. So He sent the ones He
could trust more to make preparations for the Last Supper or Passover
meal. Jesus gave instructions to Peter and John on where to go and who
to talk to but did not mention names. Hmmm.
Peter and John did find everything just as Jesus said. A moment of
increase of faith for them. It would not be long before Jesus would be
arrested on this the Holy Week. Several things in operation. One, the NIV
Study Bible brought up something. Satan easily entered Judas because of
his lack of commitment to Jesus. He was never "sold out" on Jesus. Even
after all Jesus had done for him. Whenever Judas is mentioned in
scripture, he seems to be preoccupied with how much something would cost
the disciples or wasting something that could be sold. Hmmm. And what was it that he gave Jesus up for? Money. Meanwhile, the NIV
Bible also states that Jesus did not reveal in advance where they were
going for Passover so Judas couldn't report where they were. You cannot
just let the enemy know your plans. Letting your plans be openly known
to the enemy may give him the opportunity to try to intercept. Jesus had
to carry out the last pieces of our Heavenly Father's agenda. He had to get it done. And to do
so meant He could not reveal everything to the group because one in the
group could not be trusted. There may be someone among you who is not
sold out in your friendship, your goals or frankly, just you. And like
Judas, lack of commitment to Jesus, to your friendship, or even what you
are doing and that person's own inner preoccupation can be the entry
point for the enemy to take over. Even Jesus knew how to go under the
radar.
