God Delivers

Proverbs 20:22

22Do not say, "I will recompense evil'; wait for the Lord, and He will save you.

One who is vengeful deliberately plots against another. But how much better is the one who plots evil than the one who wronged them? Once you carry out a vengeful payment, you are no better than the one who wronged you. If you are in a situation where their wrong doing has caused something to happen to you, God will bring you out. Remember the Word says, "Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers them out of all." So no matter who wronged you, God is your deliverer. Your vengeance against someone who wronged you will not deliver you. God says in His Word in Deuteronomy 32:35 Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; their foot shall slip in due time; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things to come hasten upon them. The translation of Proverbs 20:22 in the NKJ Study Bible says that Only God is able to deliver just vengeance. So you need not worry about who wronged you. Unless they repent with a contrite heart, God will deal with them according to His timetable. Letting Go allows you to focus on moving forward and remembering who holds you in the palm of His hand.

  1. Ah, this is sooo true! Thank you for the reminder. Here is my testimony on vengeance.....

Years ago, I worked as a supervisor. One of the staff decided he wanted the position and went behind my back and turned about 85% of the staff against me. He also turned my supervisor against me who removed me from position. (the removal was a lateral move which eventually put me in a higher position in the workplace and eventually til God told me to leave the workplace altogether; Bless God!) The guy viewed himself as better than everyone and for years, abused his supervisory authority making everyone (people in other offices included) miserable. A couple of months ago, I stopped at a store not in my neighborhood and out of the blue, a former coworker who I had not seen in years called out my name. The first thing she told me was the guy had been caught in a boldface lie (via recording) summarily fired and escorted from the work premises. Well...given his view of himself, being escorted from the building in front of everybody, was THE ultimate humiliation, embarrassment and shame. I could never have orchestrated remotely similar. Although this guy called himself reeking havoc on my life, God delivered me to a magnificent place and made sure I knew He exercised vengeance on my behalf just as He said he would in Deut 32:35!

Folks, always rely in the Lord!

  2. AMEN for God being in control! He still worked everything out for your good Romans 8:25! No situation or experience is wasted by God.
