Keeping Time

Acts 1:7
7He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.

The disciples wanted to know if it was time for Jesus to restore the kingdom of Israel. The disciples' definition of restore had to do with Jesus taking up arms against the Roman armies to remove the people of Israel from under Roman rule. Jesus had already risen from the dead and had promised the disciples the gift of the Holy Spirit. The disciples had no idea that Jesus had already restored mankind by getting up on the third day and defeating death. Our God is such that He gives signs. He is the keeper of time but it's not for any of us to know the exact time of when things will take place. For if we did it would banish the need for faith. Hebrews 11:1 describes faith as the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. He gives us signs to know that His purpose is moving forward. He even gives signs to show when we're going in the wrong direction. God speaks but we do not always perceive as Job's friend Elihu stated. What we must be most concerned about is what we do with our time. As God continues to show each of us signs of things to come in our lives, let us look to God to keep the time as we keep moving in the direction He said to go.

P.S. Did you know the title Get Your JOY In The Morning is based from Psalm 30:5?
